Fotografiska

A filmic portrait of photographer Frank Ockenfels III

Overview

Frank Ockenfels 3 is one of today’s most prolific photographers. Over the past 30 years, Ockenfels has photographed some of the most important cultural figures – including David Bowie, Kurt Cobain, and former President Barack Obama. His work balances a highly conceptual approach to set design, makeup, and lighting, alongside a masterful ability to capture raw humanity.

Approach

For the promotional film announcing his photography retrospective show at Fotografiska Stockholm, the vision was to bring Frank’s inimitable sensibility to life. Using distinctive cinematic tools—including microscopic lenses and a submersion tank—we crafted an intimate portrait of both the artist and his work, inviting viewers into an immersive journey through Frank’s perspective.

Created in collaboration with Aiden Ulrich and Alex Morrison.
