Frieze

A week of cultural events with Frieze Art Fair.

About

Frieze New York is a leading international art fair that launched in 2012. Frieze New York brings together the world’s leading galleries to showcase ambitious solo, group and themed presentations by pioneering artists and offers the opportunity to not only discover up-and-coming talent but also engage with some of art history’s most important figures.

Overview

In May 2021, the iconic Frieze Art Fair celebrated a triumphant return, revitalizing social and cultural gatherings after a two-year hiatus. In partnership with Frieze New York, we hosted a dynamic series of programs and activations at NeueHouse Madison Square and Fotografiska, uniting the art community for a week of cultural events throughout New York City.

Approach

Each year, Frieze Art Week brings together New York’s artists and cultural leaders. Yet outside the fair itself, there has been no true central hub for focused dialogue and exchange centrally located in the city.

We envisioned a dedicated destination for these conversations under the theme Art&—an exploration of how art intersects with disparate fields, revealing the powerful connections that emerge when creative worlds converge. Our focus was to cultivate deeper connections around art, curating an intentional calendar of events that captured the city’s creative spirit.

Programming

A dynamic calendar of cultural programming featuring an evening with the Philip Glass Ensemble, insightful dialogues with artist Hank Willis Thomas and activist collective Wide Awakes, and other leading voices, creating a week of meaningful interactions at the intersection of art, music, and social change.

Pavillion

In collaboration with global architecture firm BVN, we developed The Longhouse—New York City's first elevated outdoor pavilion—serving as a stunning backdrop for our partnership with Frieze. This beautifully designed space, featuring a unique arched roof, provided a safe gathering point for NeueHouse members and a vibrant hub for cultural exchange during Frieze Week.
